This document explains what information Chachareando uses, where it is stored, who processes it and how you can delete it. Almost everything works on your phone, with no account and no connection to our servers. Only if you buy the Premium Pass, sign in or publish your online catalog does some data leave your phone, as explained below.
Data controller
The controller of your data is the developer of Chachareando. You can write to us at hello@bryancode.dev about any privacy matter.
What stays on your phone
- Photos of your items that you take with the app's camera.
- Your decisions about each item (letting go, keeping or on hold) and their dates.
- The optional details you write to sell an item: name, size, price, brand, condition and notes.
- The type of each item you keep (top, bottom, shoes, etc.), if you set it to build outfits, and the outfits you save.
- What happened to the items you let go (sold, donated or thrown away), the sale price and what they cost you, if you enter them.
- App preferences, such as your monthly goal or whether you have seen the tutorial.
All of this information is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. Photos are not added to your gallery and other apps cannot see them.
To show your items on a clean background, the app automatically cuts out each photo using a model that runs on your phone (Apple's Vision on iPhone; Google Play Services on Android). Photos are not sent to anyone to make the cutout.
To build outfits, the app can also suggest the type of each item (for example, pants or shoes) with another model that works the same way: on your phone, without sending your photos. The type you confirm is stored only in the app.
If you decide to share items, the app hands the photos and description only to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook); from that moment, that app's policy applies. The app does not use advertising, does not use analytics tools and does not track your activity.
If iCloud or Android backup is turned on on your phone, the system may include your decisions, details and preferences in your Apple or Google account backup. Photos are not included in that backup; to move them to another phone use Settings, Create backup.
If you buy the Premium Pass
Payment is processed by the App Store or Google Play with your store account; we never receive your card details.
To verify your purchases and know until when your Pass is active we use RevenueCat, Inc. (United States). RevenueCat receives an anonymous app identifier (or your account's, if you sign in), your Pass purchases (product, dates, price, currency and store country) and technical data about your phone (model, system and app version, and language). It does not receive your photos or your items.
If you sign in and publish your catalog
Signing in is optional and is only requested to publish your online catalog or to use your Pass on another phone.
- Account: if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an identifier for your account and your email (with Apple it may be a private relay email) and, with Google, your name and profile photo, which we only use to show them in your account. We never receive your password.
- Catalog: the catalog name, its link, your WhatsApp number, the city and the note you write; the items you choose to show, with their photo (original or with the background you choose), name, price, size and condition; and the design you choose.
- Your catalog is public: anyone with the link can see it, including your WhatsApp number, so they can message you. Don't add information you don't want to share.
- Invitations: your code, the people you invited, who invited you and the status of each reward. To prevent cheating we check whether two accounts use the same phone (with Apple's DeviceCheck or Google's Play Integrity), the same WhatsApp number or the same photos; we don't use this data for anything else.
This data is stored with Supabase, Inc. and the catalog page is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. Their servers may be outside Mexico (for example, in the United States).
Website
When you visit chachareando.app, Cloudflare processes technical data (such as your IP address and browser) to deliver the page and protect it from attacks. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Permissions
- Camera: to photograph your items. It is only used while you are on the camera screen.
- Notifications: to let you know when an item reaches 30 days on hold and before your Pass expires. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.
- Photos: the app does not ask for access to your gallery. If you choose a background image, you use the system photo picker and the app only receives the image you pick.
How long we keep your data
- On your phone: until you delete it.
- Catalog: while your Pass is active and for 7 days after it expires; then it is paused and, if you don't renew, deleted after 90 days.
- Account: until you delete it.
- Purchases: RevenueCat and the store keep the purchase history according to their policies and legal obligations.
How to delete your data
- From the app: Settings, Delete all my data. All items, photos and preferences are removed from your phone.
- When you delete the app, the system deletes all of its information from the phone.
- Account and catalog: from the app in Settings, Account, Delete account, or at chachareando.app/eliminar-cuenta. We delete them within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, correct it, delete it or object to its use (ARCO rights under Mexican law), and withdraw your consent, by writing to hello@bryancode.dev. We reply within 20 business days.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the way we use your information changes, we will update this document and the date above.
